We have a track record of landmark projects: France’s largest solar power plant in Cestas (300 MWp), Finland’s largest onshore wind farm in Mutkalampi (404 MW), the world’s first big battery (150 MW / 193,5 MWh) in Hornsdale, Australia and one of the world’s most competitive solar power plant at El Llano (Mexico, 375 MWp).

Our story

Founded in 2008, Neoen emerged as one of the key players in renewable energy on the world stage. In 2023, Neoen operates in 17 countries on several continents.

Australia: Construction of Collie Battery (219 MW / 877 MWh), Neoen’s first long duration battery – meaning higher value services and improved market penetration of renewable energy.

A successful €750 M capital increase, allowing us to intensify our investments in storage facilities, and enabling a 50% increase of our installed capacity!

1 GW in operation or under construction, with the launch of construction on Western Downs Battery (200 MW / 400 MWh) and Blyth Battery (200 MW / 400 MWh) in Australia and Storen Power Reserve (40 MW / 40 MWh) in Sweden

Barbaro
Chairman and CEO

Xavier Barbaro is the Company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He started his career at Louis Dreyfus Communications (Neuf Cegetel) in Geneva in 2001, before joining Louis Dreyfus Commodities in Geneva as assistant to the Managing Director, where he was in charge of the business plan and carried out several projects in Asia. He then joined Direct Energie in 2007 as Director of development before founding Neoen in 2008. Xavier Barbaro graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Desrousseaux
Deputy CEO

Romain Desrousseaux began his career in 1999 at LDCom, in charge of the investment program in the high-speed broadband internet network. In 2008, he joined the Louis Dreyfus Commodities group as deputy Chief Information Officer, then he took over operations management for the African and Middle East region. He joined Neoen in 2013 as Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of international project development. Romain Desrousseaux is a graduate of France’s École Normale Supérieure.

Thouvenot
Chief operating officer

Norbert Thouvenot began his career as international project manager at Alcatel in 1991. In 1998 he joined Louis Dreyfus Communication (LDCOM) where he played several roles (construction, Head of Internet & Data business unit …) before managing the residential sector operations. Norbert Thouvenot joined Louis Dreyfus Commodities in 2006 as worldwide industrial operations, procurement and health and safety director. He joined Neoen in 2015 as director of international operations. Mr Thouvenot graduated from CentraleSupelec and holds an International Master’s degree in Management from EM Lyon.

Kharitonova
General counsel

Olga Kharitonova began her career in Moscow in 2000 with the European Business Club (an association representing the interests of European businesses in Russia) before joining Bureau Francis Lefebvre. Admitted to the Paris bar in 2006, she then joined the Paris office of Cleary Gottlieb Steel & Hamilton LLP where she advised clients on complex international transactions. Olga Kharitonova joined Neoen in 2018. She graduated from the State University of Moscow (Lomonossov), from the Paris IEP and holds a master’s degree in business law from the Paris I-Sorbonne University.

Chief financial officer

After five years in audit and financial advisory services, Louis-Mathieu joined Pictet Asset Management in 2006, initially as an analyst, before becoming an investment manager. He joined EY in 2009 where he became a senior manager and conducted assignments in areas that included the energy sector. In 2014, he was appointed as Chief Financial Officer of the Direct Energie group, before taking up a similar role at Voodoo in 2018. He joined Neoen as Chief Financial Officer in 2019. Louis-Mathieu is a graduate of the prestigious Sciences Po Paris (Paris Institute of Political Studies).

Governance

Neoen is governed by a Board of Directors with seven members, three of whom are independent, three are women, plus a censor. Neoen has a Governance and CSR Committee and an Audit Committee, both of which have three members, of whom two on each committee are independent.
Neoen’s governance framework complies with the relevant AFEP-MEDEF recommendations. Neoen’s Board of Directors is refreshed by rotation, and so only a portion of the Board of Directors’ members stand for re-election each year. An Annual General Meeting decision set the term of office at four years.
